The client's aspiration was to elevate the attic floor of his farmhouse and thus create an independent flat, both in terms of usage and energy.
Wood was the main building material used for the design and approval planning. This choice has had the following positive impact on the project: The weight of the new volume is rather low in order to preserve the historic basement built of stone. As a result of the prefabrication, the construction time was reduced, so that the flat below could continue to be used during the construction period. Since wood is recyclable, biodegradable and "carbon neutral", the building also has a low environmental impact.
