Information regarding Article 13 of the Code concerning the protection of personal data
What are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files that contain small amounts of information and are downloaded to your computer or mobile device when you visit a website. Cookies are then sent back to the website from which they originated, or to another website that recognises the cookie, on each subsequent visit. Cookies are useful because they enable websites to recognise individual users’ devices (such as passwords, the chosen language, font size and other display settings). Cookies thus allow a website to be tailored to your interests, so that you do not have to re-enter this information each time. Cookies are therefore used to carry out computer authentication, monitor visits and track user behaviour on a website. They may also contain a unique identification code that tracks users’ navigation within the website for statistical purposes or for advertising. Whilst browsing the website, you may also receive cookies from other websites or web servers on your computer or mobile device (see “Third-party cookies”). Some features may not work, or may not work properly, without cookies; they are therefore technically necessary in certain cases for the website to function correctly.
There are various types of cookies. Depending on their characteristics and functions, these may be stored on your computer or mobile device for different lengths of time: session cookies, which are automatically deleted as soon as the browser is closed; and so-called persistent cookies, which remain on the user’s device until a pre-determined time.
Under current Italian legislation, the use of cookies does not always require explicit consent. In particular, so-called ‘technical’ cookies do not require such consent, for example for the transmission of a message via an electronic communications network, or to provide a service explicitly requested by the user. In other words, these are essential cookies for the proper functioning of the website or for activities requested by the user.
The Data Protection Authority lists the following cookies as technical cookies that do not require explicit consent for their use (see Prov.Gen. „Erkennung vereinfachter Verfahren für die Information und den Erhalt der Zustimmung für die Verwendung der Cookies – 8. Mai 2014“):
- “Analytics cookies”, set directly by the website operator to collect information regarding the number and behaviour of users of this website,
- Cookies for navigation or sessions (for authentication, making a purchase, etc.),
- Functional cookies: These cookies enable users to navigate the website based on a range of selected features (such as language settings and the items selected for purchase), with the aim of improving the website’s usability and performance.
For cookies used to create user profiles for the purpose of tailoring advertising messages, the user’s prior consent is required, and this is obtained in accordance with their preferences as indicated by their browsing behaviour.
What types of cookies do we use?
This website does not use cookies for profiling.
In particular, this website uses:
- Technical cookies, i.e. those used for navigation or browsing, which are essential for the website to function properly or for users to access the content and services offered.
- Analytics cookies help us to understand how users interact with the website. These cookies do not collect information about users’ identities or personal data. The information is processed in an aggregated and anonymised form.
- Third-party cookies are cookies that originate from other websites or web servers and serve the purposes of those sites.
Information collected via cookies is not used to identify users. Cookies are used solely for the purposes described above.
Users can use the relevant settings in their browser to decide whether to block or delete cookies (either in full or in part). However, if all or some cookies are disabled, the website may not function properly, or certain services or features may not be available. Users may need to manually enter certain changes, information or preferences each time they visit the site.
Below, we have compiled a list of links where you can find detailed information on how to disable cookies in popular browsers.
